Project Leader:Junxiang Li

Duration:2017.07-2020.12

The project aims to explore the ecological processes and its drivers in repidly urbanized regions, to reveal the underlying mechanisms of urbanization impacts on regional environment and various ecosystems, the coupling between urbanization and regional ecological systems. It mainly addresses the two scientific questions: the one is what are the growth patterns and driving mechanisms of urban agglomeration during the urbanization processes by analyzing the urban land use land cover change derived from multi-temporal remotely sensed data, the spatial and temporal growth patterns of city and city agglomerations, and the natural, socio-economic and polical drivers of urban and urban agglomeration growth. The other is what are the relationships between urban landscape pattern dynamics and regional ecological and environmental evolutions at multiple scales through exploring how the landscape pattern change affects the ecological and environmental processes at multiple scales cross ecosystems, cities, citiy agglomeration, and region, identifying the trade-offs ecosystem services and urbanization.
